PrusaLab officially opened as an open-access makerspace on June 6, 2018. The reason behind its creation? Josef Průša wanted to give back to the maker community he himself came from by providing a high-quality creative environment. The lab ran continuously for nearly two years, eventually reaching a milestone of over 100 active members.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, PrusaLab underwent a major transformation. With public access suddenly restricted, we shifted our focus to custom production and simultaneously launched a hardware accelerator program aimed at helping selected projects develop their products through an intensive six-month development cycle.
Encouraged by the success of the accelerator, we introduced a new, exclusive membership model at the end of 2021. Members are now selected based on applications, allowing us to fully dedicate our resources to a smaller number of high-impact projects.
