General Terms of Use of PrusaLab

  1. Basic Provisions
    • The subject of these general terms is the set of rules relating to all activities carried out on the premises of the open workshop “PrusaLab” (hereinafter the “Lab”).
    • “PrusaLab” is operated by Prusa Research a.s., Company ID: 06649114, registered office at Partyzánská 188/7a, 170 00 Prague 7 (hereinafter the “Operator”). 
    • These terms apply to all persons participating in activities on the premises of PrusaLab.
  2. Definitions
    • PrusaLab (Lab): A workshop in which, subject to compliance with all terms of use, all technical equipment available here in the form of machines and tools may be used by Lab members and employees of Prusa Research a.s.
    • Lab Premises: The areas in which the open workshop is located. This area begins at the entrance through the door with a card sensor. In the case of a course or lecture, participants enter the training room (hereinafter the “Paluba”). A kitchenette and sanitary facilities are also included, as well as individual workshops (stations).
    • Kitchenette: An area with a fitted kitchen unit and bar, serving for refreshments of members/non-members and employees.
    • Active Member: A person over 18 years of age, legally competent, who enters into a contractual relationship with the Operator for the use of the workshop by signing an agreement and pays the membership fee for a certain, predetermined period—i.e., an activated membership. An integral part of the agreement is consent to these general terms. If the member is a minor, the agreement and consent are signed by their legal guardian. 
    • Inactive Member: A person whose membership fee validity has expired. 
    • Non-member: A person who does not have a membership. Without the accompaniment of a Master (Mistr) or a PR employee, they must not enter the Lab premises. Before entering the workshop areas, they are duly instructed on possible risks within the Lab. (A person under 18 must, for safety reasons, be accompanied by a legal guardian (children up to 15) or by a Master (children 15–18), who is responsible for them throughout their stay in the Lab.) 
    • Employee of Prusa Research a.s. (hereinafter “PR Employee”): A person in a contractual relationship with Prusa Research a.s. They have an ID card and perform the employer’s tasks. (For an employee who comes to the Lab in their free time or during hours intended for members, the same rules apply as for an Active Member.) Before entering the Lab, every employee must undergo training regarding conduct and compliance with general safety rules, internal safety and fire regulations, and machine operation.
    • Agreement (Member Registration) on Use of the Workshop and Instruction on Safety and Fire Protection: An agreement between the Lab user and the Operator governing the user’s mode of use of the Lab, prices and payment terms for using the Lab, etc. By concluding the agreement on use, the Operator enables the user to use the workshop and its equipment and accessories for the purpose of performing the activities specified in the agreement, under the conditions and to the extent agreed therein. 
    • General Safety and Fire Regulations in PrusaLab: Documents dealing with occupational safety, fire protection, and conduct in PrusaLab. These must be observed by everyone in the Lab premises. 
    • Workshops (Stations): Individual parts of the Lab with various workshop equipment (3D printing corner, manual workshop, electro lab, CNC machining center, laser, router, airbrush corner). Each workshop (station) has a responsible person—the Master (Mistr)—who is responsible for maintenance. 
    • Master (Mistr): The person responsible for operating the workshops (or a station) at a given time, providing expert assistance to members. Issues materials. Prepares documents for charging the member for utilized services. 
    • Instructor/Trainer: A person who leads a specific workshop or training approved or organized by PrusaLab or the Operator. 
    • Loan Book: A document located at the reception area, into which Lab staff and PR employees record tools borrowed from the Lab premises. Every borrowing by PR employees must be approved in advance by the PrusaLab Master. 
    • Membership Card: A card enabling identification of the person who has entered into a contractual relationship (includes the membership application and supplementary documents) with the open workshop (Lab). The card is also used to open individual doors (readers) within the Lab premises. Authorization to open individual doors is subject to mandatory training. 
    • Loss of a membership card and issuance of a new card is subject to a fee of CZK 250.
  3. Types of Use and Basic Conditions
    • Member
      • After training and passing tests, the member may work with the tools and machines available in the Lab. The individual workshops (stations) are described in Chapter 4. 
      • A member may use Lab services under conditions agreed in advance with the workshop Master. 
      • Upon obtaining membership, a member receives a membership card that allows entry to PrusaLab and, where applicable, to individual workshops (stations) and their operation. 
      • Use of the Lab is only possible under the constant supervision and with the expert assistance of the Master, also subject to the Master’s time availability. 
      • The member is obliged to complete OSH and FP (occupational safety and health; fire protection) training and training for operating the specific machines they will use. 
      • The member may use the kitchenette and sanitary facilities. 
      • Options for storing work-in-progress projects/products are described in Chapter 9. 
      • Members may benefit from discounted prices for events organized by PrusaLab.
    • Non-member
      • Before entering the Lab, a non-member is instructed regarding OSH and conduct within the Lab. 
      • Without the accompaniment of a Master or PR employee, a non-member must not enter the Lab premises. 
      • A non-member must not manipulate any machines or tools available in the Lab. The sole exception is the use of machines and tools within training for non-members, which takes place under the supervision of a trainer. 
      • A non-member may use the kitchenette and sanitary facilities. 
      • A non-member may request custom manufacturing using the machines located in the Lab.
    • Employee
      • An employee has the right to use the Lab outside working hours (always only if at least one Master is present in the Lab). The same rules apply as for an Active Member. 
      • After training, the employee may work with the tools and machines available in the Lab. The individual workshops (stations) are described in Chapter 4. 
      • The employee is obliged to complete mandatory safety training and training for operating the specific machines. 
      • The employee may use the kitchenette and sanitary facilities.
    • Course Participant (hereinafter the “Participant”)
      • A course participant moves exclusively within the training room (Paluba). However, if other training areas are designated by the Master, the participant shall follow all safety and fire regulations and instructions, which the Master is obliged to communicate orally/in writing before the participant enters any workplace other than the training room. 
      • A course participant may use the kitchenette and toilets. 
      • Without the accompaniment of a Master or PR employee, a participant must not enter the Lab workshop areas. 
      • A participant must not manipulate any machines or tools available in the Lab unless they have been duly trained in advance by the Master or the course instructor.
  4. List of Workshops (Stations) and Their Contents
    • 3D Printing Corner – The station includes FDM and SLA printers. Separate training for FDM and SLA printers. 
    • Manual Workshop – Basic hand tools (non-electrical), fasteners, abrasives, cordless screwdriver, heat gun, hot-melt glue gun.
    • Basic power tools (rotary sander, cordless screwdrivers, bench drill, impact driver, model maker’s sander, pneumatic stapler).
    • “Lab under Steam” – Advanced power tools (jigsaw, combination sander, handheld router, angle grinder, circular saw, reciprocating saw, band saw, miter and plunge saw).
      • CNC router Konečný s pracovní plochou 1 x 2 m. Tento stroj má samostatné školení.
      • Formátovací pila. Tento stroj má samostatné školení.
      • Svařovací pracoviště
    • Painting corner – A station for post-processing products. Includes an airbrush with compressor and a spray booth. 
    • Electro Lab – The workshop includes a heat gun, SMT station, soldering tools, Raspberry Pi kits, ESP32 kits, Arduino kits, electronic components—capacitors, resistors, transistors, a PCB milling machine. 
    • Laser – CO₂ laser plotter Thunder Laser Nova 63 equipped with an RF tube rated at 100 W. This machine has separate training. 
    • CNC Machining Center – The workshop is accessible only to authorized PR employees. Includes a CNC mill and a lathe.

  5. Reservation System
    • To work at the Laser and Router stations, prior reservation via www.prusalab.cz is required; if unavailable, by email to info@prusalab.cz. 
    • A reservation canceled later than 24 hours before its start is charged at the full amount. The fee for a reservation canceled more than 24 hours before the start is refunded. 
    • Reservations can be canceled by phone, on the website, or by email during member hours.
  6. General Safety, Fire Regulations, and Conduct in PrusaLab
    • The general terms are binding for all persons present on the Lab premises. 
    • Work in the Lab is permitted only to PR employees, PrusaLab employees, Active Members, or course and workshop participants.
  7. General Safety, Fire Regulations, and Conduct in PrusaLab
    • Use only the designated routes, walkways, entrances, and exits to enter PrusaLab. 
    • Entry into other areas of Prusa Research (i.e., outside PrusaLab and the adjacent sanitary facilities and kitchenette) is prohibited. 
    • Conduct your work so as not to endanger your own health or that of others. 
    • Immediately inform Lab staff of any defect that could cause injury, fire, or other damage. 
    • Access to electrical switch rooms is permitted only to authorized persons; any intervention in electrical switchgear by other persons is prohibited. 
    • Members are obliged to attend briefings and training in the interest of safety, occupational health protection, and fire protection. 
    • Entry to the Lab workshops is allowed only in closed footwear with a reinforced toe. 
    • Use personal protective equipment while working; otherwise, you risk serious injury. 
    • Use personal protective equipment only for work that requires it. It is forbidden to use such equipment for other purposes. 
    • Familiarize yourself with the location of the first-aid kit. Assist anyone injured and help provide first aid. 
    • It is everyone’s duty to respect safety signage. 
    • Before working with chemicals, carefully read the safety data sheet (available by the chemical cabinet or from the Master). 
    • It is forbidden to bring your own hazardous chemicals and agents (NCHLAP) into PrusaLab. 
    • Keep passageways clear (90 cm). 
    • Persons under 18 may enter only when accompanied by a legal guardian who is responsible for them. (If the legal guardian gives written consent, a child aged over 12 and under 15 may be present in the kitchenette, sanitary facilities, Paluba, and the 3D printing corner under the Master’s supervision (i.e., without the legal guardian). They do not, however, have independent access to other workshops (stations). If the legal guardian gives written consent, a child aged over 15 and under 18 may be present in all Lab areas under the Master’s supervision (i.e., without the legal guardian).) 
    • Drinking alcoholic beverages and using narcotics at the workplace, as well as entering the premises under their influence, is prohibited. 
    • Report any injury to the Lab crew immediately. 
    • Do not walk under suspended loads. 
    • It is forbidden to stack any materials by electrical switchboards or fire extinguishers. Keep passageways around electrical equipment clear. 
    • Areas around operated machines must be kept clear; do not store unnecessary materials at machines that would restrict safe work. 
    • Keep your workplace tidy. 
    • Repairs of electrical and mechanical equipment may be carried out only by a person designated for that purpose. Never attempt to repair a machine/tool yourself. 
    • Do not damage or remove protective devices (e.g., the shield on the bench drill, the laser lid interlock, etc.). 
    • Do not dismantle machines or machine accessories and do not remove items from the workplace. 
    • Entry to the Lab premises is at your own risk. 
    • If you suffer any injury to health (including psychological), whether caused by your own or someone else’s error/fault, the Operator is not liable for this event in any way. 
    • For entry, you must be instructed on the general safety and fire regulations (fire alarm guidelines, evacuation plan). 
    • Smoking and handling open flames are strictly prohibited in all areas. 
    • When using machines/tools, these items are only lent to you for use. If a machine is damaged through incorrect work procedures, failure to comply with OSH and FP rules, or failure to comply with general safety regulations, you bear full material responsibility for the item.
    • If you violate these rules or disobey PrusaLab staff, you may be asked to leave and then removed from the Lab premises. 
    • If you are unsure about your work procedure or the use of a machine/tool, ask the Lab crew. This prevents possible injury or material damage. 
    • Prusa Research a.s. is not responsible for
      • your belongings left at the workplace;
      • items you wish to modify/machine and the resulting outcome thereof;
      • performing work/services within agreed time intervals or any delays related to a given job. 
    • Prusa Research a.s. and its subordinate workplace PrusaLab reserve the right to close the workplace at any time for an indefinite period in connection with reconstruction or an exceptional situation. You will be notified of this. 
    • Prusa Research a.s. cannot guarantee to provide a given product or service if circumstances do not allow it (time, materials, machine availability, staffing, etc.). 
    • No dogs or other pets that could endanger Lab operations are allowed.
  8. Personal Data Protection
    • Personal data of members are always stored in accordance with applicable legal regulations, i.e., Act No. 101/2000 Coll. (Personal Data Protection Act) and, effective from 25 May 2018, also Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation), which in some respects replaces the provisions of the Act.
    • By concluding the agreement on Lab use and the safety instruction, the user gives the Operator consent to process and collect their personal data in the Operator’s database, until such time as they express their disagreement with such processing in writing.
    • The user acknowledges that they are obliged to provide their personal data correctly and truthfully and to inform the Operator without undue delay of any changes to their personal data.
    • By signing, you confirm that Prusa Research a.s. may take your photographs at various events and workshops and subsequently post these photos on social networks. If you expressly do not wish this, please inform us before confirming the document with your signature.
    • For better communication between you and our company, you provide your email and, by signing, you agree to receive commercial communications, information regarding changes in operations, or changes to this document, including any addenda.
  9. Storage on PrusaLab Premises
    • Subject to available capacity, it is possible—by agreement with the Master—to store a work-in-progress project on the Lab premises at your own risk. The storage area will be designated for the member or PR employee by the Master or Lab staff. Lab staff reserve the right to refuse storage of a work-in-progress project for capacity or other serious reasons.
    • If necessary, the Operator’s staff are entitled, within the Lab premises, to change the placement or method of storage of stored items.
    • The maximum storage period for a single project is 1 month. After this period, the user is obliged to clear the stored items. If they fail to do so, the Operator’s staff are entitled to clear and dispose of such items on their own, and to charge the user for the costs associated with clearing and/or disposing of these items.
    • Access to stored items or their release will be carried out in accordance with the Operator staff schedule and during the Lab’s opening hours.
