Maker Faire

Hardware startups at Maker Faire led by PrusaLab

We are less than three weeks away from the Prague edition of the 5th year of Maker Faire – the biggest Czech festival of inventors and makers. So it is high time to introduce what we have prepared for this DIY celebration.

On 17 and 18 September you will traditionally find us at Prague Market (Pražská tržnice) next to the exhibition Prusa Research. Unlike previous years, however, we will not have just our own stand, but a whole zone! This year, our exhibits will be promising Czech hardware startupswhose product development we have had the opportunity to take part in. You may know some of them from our acceleration programme, while with others we have worked on a commission basis. What they have in common are their innovative products, which you will be able to see on site.

The hardware startup zone will make its debut at the Czech Maker Faire, and our goal is for it to become a permanent part of the festival. This new feature reflects the gradual shift of the Czech maker scene towards a more professional level – take, for example, our transformation from a community workshop into a technology partner for young companies. We will therefore be very happy if you stop by our zone or one of the eight startups and get inspired by the ingenuity of Czech makers. And so that we are not promising castles in the air, let us briefly introduce each member of the Hardware Startup Zone.

And what about us?

We want the zone to work not only as an exhibition of promising startups, but also as an opportunity for networking. And we think that is best done over coffee. That is why we will build a pop-up bar in the middle of the zone, where we will be happy to meet you and chat about how to support the Czech maker/startup scene and take it further. And to top it off, besides the coffee machine we will also bring our 3D printing robotic arm.

PS: Before Maker Faire Prague kicks off, get into the DIY spirit with us at Meet the Makers 13, which will take place on Tuesday 6 September. Or at least have a look at the highlights from last year.
