Introducing our new podcast From the cellar to the world, which focuses on the fascinating stories of hardware start-uppers. In our first episode, we spoke with Jiří Dužár, co-founder of the company Obsessed, which is the only manufacturer of custom 3D-printed saddles in the world.

What is the first episode about?
From the cellar to the world is a podcast that brings the stories of Czech hardware startups and their journey from idea to realisation. The first episode features Jiří Dužár, co-founder of Posedla, who shares his experience of developing a unique bicycle saddle that is made to measure for every cyclist using advanced 3D printing technology. Jiří describes how they identified a gap in the market which they filled with their innovative product.
The story of the Posedla brand
The Posedla company is unique in that it combines hardware and software to create a custom saddle tailored to every cyclist. Their journey began in 2020, when Jiří and co-founder Martin Řípa came up with the idea for a 3D-printed saddle. Today, they have customers in more than 40 countries and their technology uses advanced photogrammetry and parametric design, ensuring that every saddle is unique.
Collaboration with PrusaLab
One of the key moments for Posedla was their cooperation with PrusaLab, which enabled them to realise their vision. Jiří emphasises the importance of the PrusaLab hardware accelerator, which provided them with access to the experts and technologies needed for successful product development. Thanks to this collaboration, the Posedla startup succeeded in launching a revolutionary product on the market.
Development and challenges
Posedla is a Czech company that prides itself on being a manufacturer rather than just a brand. During the episode, Jiří describes the challenges the company faced, including finding suitable suppliers and developing the 3D printing process. The company uses thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and Multi Jet Fusion technology from HP, which enables them to manufacture saddles with high precision and the possibility of material recycling.
Focus on sustainability
During the episode, Jiří also talks about the emphasis on sustainability, which is key for the company. The saddles are made to order, which means that production starts only after an order is placed, thereby minimising waste and overproduction. This approach not only reduces the carbon footprint, but also ensures that the customer gets a product that precisely matches their needs.
