At a recent Demo Day the project from the previous round was presented to journalists and investors PrusaLab hardware accelerator – smart handbag IRMA. This unique product, designed Klára Šmakalová in collaboration with a designer Jakub Stedina, is not only stylish fashion item, but also practical helper, which by its functions increases safety a comfort its female bearers.
More than just a fashion accessory
Besides its attractive appearance, IRMA brings many innovations aimed at increasing the safety of women when moving outside the home in the evening. The handbag is equipped with several security features, which can significantly help in crisis situations.
Key features include high-performance lighting, 120dB alarm, GPS tracker, NFC chip a MagSafe charger for smartphones. Thanks to these features, the handbag can provide not only light for the journey, but also dazzle potential the attacker or immediately alert people nearby loud warn them. And although it might not seem so at first glance, even the function topping up the phone it is among the security features – with a dead phone you simply cannot call for help. Klára Šmakalová, who previously led the successful women's clothing brand Akari, and Jakub Stedina with extensive experience in industrial design decided to create a handbag that responds to the real needs of women in the modern world.

One of the key elements of IRMA is its modularity. The handbag is designed so that users can change the side pockets according to current need or mood.
In the future, the possibility of integrating other practical modules, such as a speaker (or bento box) as well as limited editions side pockets, which will be created in cooperation with leading designers, designers a artists.
Acceleration
The IRMA project has received significant support as part of the PrusaLab hardware accelerator. In addition to financial backing and intensive mentoring, our experts created a they tested the technical solution a they manufactured the first functional prototype. This process took place over a period of 12 months right in our Holešovice workshop.
Ready for market
IRMA should be available for sale as early as the autumn of this year. The price of the base model will be around 15,000 CZK, while the prices of special editions will vary.
The handbag is getting ready for official launch at the fashion show Eye-catcher in Vienna.
What's next?
Klára Šmakalová and Jakub Stedina plan to continue working on improving the IRMA handbag. Their goal is for IRMA not to be just a seasonal hit, but long-term partner for all women who are looking for a combination style a security.
The IRMA handbag has the potential to become the new standard in the field of fashion accessories, where safety and style go hand in hand. The Demo Day at PrusaLab thus demonstrated that innovation and creativity know no bounds.
