At Meet the Makers 22, the speakers were Pavl\u00edna Kon\u010dick\u00e1 and Franti\u0161ek Vocel from \u0160P\u00c9RA<\/a><\/strong> (SUP\u0160 and VO\u0160 Turnov). They showed how 3D printing is changing the teaching of traditional foundry work and helping students focus on what matters \u2013 the craft itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school\u2019s official name is the Secondary School of Applied Arts and Higher Vocational School in Turnov, but teachers and students have long called it simply \u0160P\u00c9RA. The nickname comes from jewellery making (\u0161perka\u0159stv\u00ed), which is the school\u2019s historical foundation and still one of its main specialisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Franti\u0161ek Vocel, one of the two teachers who spoke, originally worked as a foundry technologist. It was his personal experience in the field that led him to teaching: \u201cI make a living from it, and I know the industry lacks young people.
