At PrusaLab we love projects that stem from a real need. And such is the story of MIRNIX HOCKEY<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 a startup that decided to solve the problem of drying hockey gear<\/strong>. At Demo Day, we proudly presented the result of several months of acceleration in the\u00a0PrusaLab hardware accelerator<\/strong> \u2013 the practical hockey hanger \u201cThe Hooking<\/strong>\u201d, which helps hockey players dry and organise their gear more efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did the journey go from the initial idea to the finished product ready for sale?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MIRNIX HOCKEY: From concept to market-ready product<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Founders Mat\u011bj Raiter <\/strong>and\u00a0Tom\u00e1\u0161 Mula\u010d<\/strong> knew that drying hockey gear is a never-ending battle. Poor air circulation<\/strong>, smell<\/strong>, bacteria<\/strong>, lack of space<\/strong> \u2013 every player knows this. And so they decided to come up with\u00a0a compact,<\/strong>, durable, ergonomic hanger<\/strong>that helps solve this problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their idea made it through the selection for the PrusaLab hardware accelerator<\/strong>, which meant only one thing: an intensive, months-long process of development<\/strong>, testing <\/strong>and\u00a0strategic planning<\/strong>, turning a great idea into a successful product and a sustainable business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

What happened during the acceleration?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At PrusaLab, startups find not only a workshop full of all kinds of manufacturing technologies, but also practical help with\u00a0key aspects of production <\/strong>and\u00a0bringing the product to market<\/strong>. With MIRNIX HOCKEY, we focused on three main areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Development of plastic components using 3D printing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Developing a physical product is always a challenge \u2013 especially when it comes to\u00a0durable <\/strong>and\u00a0lightweight plastic parts<\/strong>that must bear the weight of a full set of hockey gear while being easy to store. A key role <\/strong>was played by 3D printers<\/strong> and\u00a0Prusa filaments<\/strong>, which allowed us to quickly test different design variants and optimise the shape for maximum strength and functionality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Packaging as part of the product<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Another key part was packaging optimisation<\/strong>, for which MIRNIX HOCKEY worked with one of our trusted suppliers, Unipap<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The result? The cardboard box insert <\/strong>also serves as a display stand for the hanger <\/strong>in the shop, which eliminates the need for extra display materials and makes it easier to sell in bricks-and-mortar shops and at sports events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Mentoring and strategy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Knowing HOW<\/strong> to make a product is not enough. It must be clear how to get it to customers, how to finance the company's sustainable growth and how to protect its unique design and features. That is why MIRNIX HOCKEY went through intensive mentoring in key areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
