The team is working on several projects, including combining mycelium and ceramics with the&nbsp;<strong>use of 3D printing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sustainability in construction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vikt\u00f3ria stressed the importance of organic materials in reducing the environmental impact of the construction industry. Myceelab is looking for ways in which mycelium can contribute to a greener and more sustainable future for construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Research and applications<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Current projects include the development of mycelium panels and blocks that can serve as structural elements or insulation material in interiors. These projects are presented in academia and at international forums (<strong>ASCAAD<\/strong> in Amman, Jordan), where the team won an award for its innovative work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The future of mycelium in architecture<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vikt\u00f3ria\u2019s team is also exploring the potential of mycelium to <strong>detoxify soils<\/strong> and&nbsp;<strong>support biodiversity <\/strong>in affected areas. There is also discussion of biophobia and the need to accept natural decay as part of our environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This talk opened up new perspectives on mycelium, not only as a material but also as an inspiration for more sustainable and responsible approaches in architecture and construction. The Myceelab project, led by UMPRUM students, is not primarily after commercial success; instead it focuses on experiments and research in an academic setting.
