{"id":30258,"date":"2024-01-10T10:53:47","date_gmt":"2024-01-10T09:53:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prusalab.cz\/?p=30258"},"modified":"2024-01-10T10:53:47","modified_gmt":"2024-01-10T09:53:47","slug":"prusalab-souhrn-2023-za-kulisy-neuveritelnych-projektu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prusalab.cz\/en\/prusalab-souhrn-2023-za-kulisy-neuveritelnych-projektu\/","title":{"rendered":"PrusaLab 2023 summary: Behind the scenes of incredible projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last year was literally a <strong>kaleidoscope<\/strong> of diverse <strong>projects<\/strong>, from commercial <strong>commissions<\/strong>, through large <strong>art installations<\/strong>, <strong>the acceleration programme<\/strong> for startups and other <strong>educational activities<\/strong>, to several <strong>charity projects<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look at what we created last year and why it is never boring in PrusaLab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"PrusaLab Recap 2023 \u2013 a summary of the most interesting things from our prototyping workshop\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NmrWA3erEBU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-5ebf3222 gb-headline-text\">Educational activities and mentoring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">are among the most important areas we focus on. As part of our hardware startup development programme \u2013&nbsp;<strong>PrusaLab hardware accelerator<\/strong> \u2013 we have been (and still are) working on the project of the previous round's winner. You can look forward to its presentation this year, but only once the prototype has been fully fine-tuned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the Prague and Brno<strong> Maker Faire<\/strong> festivals, anyone curious about how this process could help them could try out our acceleration programme in a short, fun format. <strong>Accelerator dry run<\/strong> was meant above all to entertain and inspire, but participants received real feedback on their ideas and their commercial potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also helped&nbsp;<strong>our members<\/strong>carry out their projects \u2013 for example the promoter of robotic painting,&nbsp;<strong>Jakub Tajovsk\u00fd<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also held three <strong>Meet the Makers<\/strong>evenings full of interesting guests from tech startups, art, science, research and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At our <strong>public workshops,<\/strong> we didn't stop at 3D printing, but also introduced the basics of the whole prototyping process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also helped educate our colleagues in two <strong>internal workshops<\/strong> on the basics of robotics, in which they built and programmed a robot for painting Easter eggs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-470ef7d1 gb-headline-text\">Art entertains us<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and challenging projects help us grow. We have created several <strong>art installations<\/strong>that not only enchant but also prove that technology can be beautiful.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One such example was the installation <strong>Nexus<\/strong>, which premiered at <strong>Signal Festival<\/strong>. It was the winner of the joint Signal Calling challenge, which we have once again organised with the festival's programme board.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The very first winner of this challenge, in 2019, was the kinetic sculpture <strong>Reflexe<\/strong>. Since its premiere at Signal, it has been shown at several other events, most recently at the Swiss multi-genre festival <strong>Zauberpark am Flughafen Z\u00fcrich<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our third very interesting project was the production of a <strong>cymatic installation<\/strong> for Orlen Unipetrol, which made waves in their zone at the Karlovy Vary film festival <strong>KVIFF<\/strong> and later at the music festival <strong>Colours of Ostrava<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-32cd2941 gb-headline-text\">You can make all sorts of things<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and our already quite varied portfolio of commissions has become a little more colourful again. We helped print segments of<strong> modular<\/strong> design <strong>furniture<\/strong> Ruderal, we made a life-size <strong>giraffe skeleton,<\/strong> a replica of a<strong> space probe<\/strong>, a special <strong>aid<\/strong> for eye surgery training, a commemorative <strong>cup for<\/strong> footballer <strong>Peter Olayinka<\/strong>, a silicone <strong>mould<\/strong> for casting giant ice \u201ccubes\u201d to cool beer kegs, and much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-367d7b3e gb-headline-text\">Giving back<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">is a core <strong>value of PrusaLab<\/strong> and of the whole group of companies of <strong>Josef Pr\u016f\u0161a<\/strong>. Besides sharing know-how with the maker community, we also help <strong>people with disabilities<\/strong> (and now also<strong> animals<\/strong>). For a boy with a severe physical disability, we <strong>fulfilled his wish<\/strong> to own and\u00a0<strong>use a 3D printer<\/strong>, the injured <strong>leg<\/strong> of Jeff the golden retriever <strong>was supported by<\/strong> a custom-made<strong> brace,<\/strong> and for several children's books we created, based on their illustrations, a set of <strong>haptic models for the blind<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking back, even we were a little surprised by how much we managed to do last year.
