At PrusaLab, we are testing how much 3D printing can change things when it is not just seen as a way to manufacture a single part, but as part of the entire development process.<\/p>\n

We are the Prusa Research experimental workshop, combining expertise in printer and material development with design, electronics, prototyping, and digital manufacturing.<\/p>\n

We verify on specific projects where 3D printing truly makes sense: when it accelerates development, simplifies production, enables new shapes, reduces the number of components or opens the way to a solution that would be more complex to create using other methods.<\/p>\n

We are neither a conventional contract manufacturer nor an open workshop for every idea. We focus on projects where we can integrate 3D printing meaningfully, experimentally and in a broader context, from the first prototype through functional solutions to the validation of the production process.<\/p>\n

We then pass on the experience from these projects to companies, creators, and projects that want to use 3D printing practically, rather than just for effect.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

History of PrusaLab<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

PrusaLab was founded in 2018 as the open makerspace of Prusa Research. Josef Pr\u016f\u0161a established it with the idea of offering the maker community a well-equipped facility bringing together 3D printers, a laser cutter, CNC machines, an electronics lab, a manual workshop, and people willing to share their experience. In its early years, it operated as a public workshop for members, workshops, and community projects.<\/p>\n

The covid pandemic, however, significantly changed its direction: public operations ground to a halt and PrusaLab began to focus more on custom manufacturing, prototyping, and the development of specific projects. Out of this transformation gradually grew a hardware accelerator and a selective membership model, which made it possible to dedicate more capacity to a smaller number of meaningful projects.<\/p>\n

Today's PrusaLab builds on this experience, but takes it further. Instead of a general makerspace, it has become an experimental development workshop that explores, tests and demonstrates new possibilities of 3D printing in practice through real-world projects.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
